Case Study: A 24-month non-extraction transformation for a 14-year-old patient.
The Concern: This young patient came to us with a complex combination of orthodontic challenges. His lower front teeth were biting completely in front of his upper teeth (a severe underbite), which was driven by a narrow upper jaw. Because his upper arch lacked room, his upper canines (eye teeth) became severely impacted- meaning they were completely trapped high up in the jaw bone and unable to come through naturally.
Dr John's Approach: We designed a comprehensive, non-extraction plan to correct his bite structure without pulling out any healthy adult teeth. First, we used gentle upper jaw expansion to widen his upper arch and naturally create the space he was missing. From there, we utilized modern fixed braces to carefully guide those trapped canine teeth down into place and safely realign his underbite. Over a 24-month period, this approach achieved a tremendous improvement in both his bite function and overall facial balance, leaving him with a strong, aligned, and highly aesthetic smile.
