Invisalign Dee Why & Clear Aligner Therapy

Diamond-Level Specialist Expertise

Led by certified Diamond-Level Invisalign Provider Dr John Sambevski, our practice plans clear aligner therapy using leading clear aligner systems, including Invisalign, Spark, and Angel Aligners. Because we are a specialist orthodontic clinic, your care is tailored entirely to your facial balance and bite function, rather than to a single product.

We welcome teenagers and adults from across Dee Why, the Northern Beaches, and greater Sydney who are looking for a discreet, flexible way to align their smile. While clear aligners are highly popular for their everyday convenience, the health and stability of your bite depend entirely on the clinical planning behind the scenes. By combining specialist orthodontic diagnosis with advanced digital treatment design, we ensure your clear aligner journey is comfortable, efficient, and precisely mapped to your long-term dental health.

What is Invisalign and how does it work?

Invisalign is a clear aligner system that uses a series of custom-made, removable aligners to gradually move the teeth. Each aligner is designed to apply controlled pressure to specific teeth, with treatment planned digitally before the aligners are made.

To achieve precise tooth movements, small clear attachments may be bonded to some teeth during treatment. Because the aligners are removable, they must be worn for approximately 22 hours per day to be effective. Consistent wear is essential for treatment to progress as planned and for results to be predictable.

Clear aligners can be a discreet and convenient option for many patients, particularly adults and teenagers who prefer a less visible alternative to fixed braces. Because aligners are removable, they also allow patients to eat normally and maintain their usual brushing and flossing routine.

Is Invisalign suitable for everyone?

Not every patient is suited to Invisalign, and not every aligner treatment is the same. Suitability depends on the teeth, bite, jaw relationship, gum health, treatment goals and how consistently the aligners can be worn.

At Dee Why Orthodontics, we carefully assess whether clear aligner therapy is the right option for your individual case. In some situations, Invisalign or another aligner system may be appropriate. In other cases, braces or a combined approach may provide a better result.

Choosing the Right Fit for Your Lifestyle

Clear Aligners (Invisalign / Spark)

A discreet, removable system using a series of custom-made clear trays to gradually guide your teeth into position.

  • Discreet: not invisible, but unobtrusive in most work and social settings.
  • Removable for eating: take them out for meals, then clean your teeth and replace them.
  • Straightforward hygiene: brushing and flossing continue as normal.
  • Note: requires the discipline to wear them around 22 hours a day to stay on track.

Modern Fixed Braces

A reliable, fixed option using low-profile metal brackets or subtle, tooth-coloured ceramic brackets.

  • Always working: fixed to the teeth, so there is nothing to remember to wear.
  • Well suited to complex movement: efficient for trickier tooth corrections and bite adjustments.
  • Discreet options: ceramic brackets are more subtle than traditional metal.
  • Note: requires extra care when cleaning, and avoiding very hard or sticky foods.

Specialist planning matters

Clear aligner treatment is not simply about ordering a set of trays. The quality of the result depends on diagnosis, planning, staging, attachment design, bite correction, refinement and careful monitoring throughout treatment.

As a specialist orthodontic practice, orthodontics is our entire focus. Dr John Sambevski plans clear aligner treatment with attention to the teeth, bite, facial balance, comfort and long-term stability, not just whether the front teeth appear straight.

How long will it take to straighten my teeth with Invisalign?

The length of Invisalign treatment depends on the complexity of the orthodontic issues being addressed. Mild cases may be completed in as little as six months, while more comprehensive treatment can take 18 to 24 months or longer.

At your consultation, your orthodontist will assess your individual case and provide guidance on the expected treatment timeframe based on your clinical needs.

Is Invisalign painful?

Invisalign uses the same biological process of tooth movement as braces, so it is normal to feel some pressure when changing to a new aligner. This sensation is usually mild and short-lived, settling within a day or two as the teeth begin to move.

Most patients adapt to Invisalign quickly as part of their daily routine.

Invisalign, Spark and Angel Aligners

Invisalign is a well-known clear aligner system, but it is not the only option. At Dee Why Orthodontics, we also work with Spark and Angel Aligners where appropriate.

Having access to more than one aligner system allows treatment to be planned around the patient rather than the brand. The most suitable option will depend on the complexity of the case, the desired tooth movements, the bite, lifestyle factors and clinical goals.

Invisalign for teenagers

Clear aligners can be a good option for some teenagers, particularly when they are motivated, responsible and able to wear their aligners consistently. Aligners need to be worn as instructed for treatment to progress properly.

For teenagers, we assess not only the position of the teeth, but also growth, bite development, oral hygiene, compliance and whether aligners are likely to be the most reliable option. For some teenagers, braces may still be the better choice.

Invisalign for adults

Many adults seek orthodontic treatment because their teeth have shifted, they were unable to have treatment when younger, or they want to improve their smile and bite in a more discreet way.

Clear aligners can be particularly appealing for adults because they are removable and less visible than fixed braces. Treatment can often be planned around work, family and lifestyle commitments, while still aiming for a carefully controlled orthodontic result.

What happens at your Invisalign consultation?

At your consultation, we assess your teeth, bite, smile, facial balance and overall orthodontic needs. We will discuss whether Invisalign or another clear aligner system is suitable, what treatment would involve, how long it may take and whether any alternatives should be considered.

If recent orthodontic records, scans or radiographs are available, these can also be reviewed as part of your assessment. Our aim is to give you clear advice so you can make an informed decision without pressure or confusion.

How are Invisalign treatment fees determined?

The cost of Invisalign treatment varies depending on the complexity of the tooth and bite movements required, the likely length of treatment, and whether refinements or additional stages are expected. Because Invisalign treatment is highly individualised, fees are tailored to the recommended plan after assessment.

At Dee Why Orthodontics, we aim to make the process clear from the beginning. At your consultation, we explain your options, likely treatment timeframe, fees, and available payment arrangements transparently.

If you already have recent orthodontic records from another consultation, you are welcome to send them through for review. In many cases, we can provide a preliminary opinion and a broad fee guide before your visit. Final recommendations and exact fees are confirmed after our own clinical assessment.
